"Rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs was arrested in Manhattan on Monday evening following a grand jury indictment on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. This comes months after the music mogul faced a series of civil sexual assault lawsuits, all of which he has denied."
A federal court in Manhattan unseals charges against Combs for racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, alleging he “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.”
A grand jury has indicted rapper and music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs on charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, according to a federal document unsealed Tuesday. The charges are based on 16 years of allegations and decades of rumors that Combs leveraged his power to physically and sexually abuse women.
Combs was arrested on Monday evening and is being held without bail, marking a shocking turn in the life of a man who once dominated the entertainment and celebrity world.
The indictment claims that Combs used his lifestyle, media, and music companies to orchestrate a large-scale criminal enterprise. It alleges that members of his security team, personal assistants, and staff played a role in these illegal activities, helping him abuse, threaten, and coerce women and others to "satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his actions."
Sean "Diddy" Combs and his associates are accused of committing and covering up crimes such as sex trafficking, drug distribution, arson, and kidnapping. According to the indictment, many of these alleged crimes occurred at illegal sex parties Combs referred to as "freak offs."
At these parties, Combs allegedly assaulted victims by throwing objects at them and dragging them by their hair. His associates reportedly booked hotel suites, hired male sex workers, and distributed narcotics like cocaine, methamphetamine, and oxycodone to coerce partygoers into sex.
The indictment also claims that Combs' staff monitored and arranged travel for victims and even scheduled IV fluid deliveries to help them recover from heavy drug use and physical strain—all on his orders. These events were allegedly filmed, and Combs used the footage to intimidate victims into silence.
Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, stated, "This office is committed to investigating and prosecuting anyone involved in sex trafficking, regardless of how powerful, wealthy, or famous they may be. A year ago, Sean Combs was handed the key to New York City in Times Square. Today, he has been indicted and will face justice."
